DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, 7J, 18S, unusual 14K gold clamshell style OF recase containing an interior pivoting gilt white metal movement ring with hinged gilt white metal cuvette, fancy white enamel SS dial with gold foil hour numerals and decorations, light blue color behind the hour numerals and at center, SW-LS, gilt mvt, s#2629. Gross weight of assembled watch 80.7 dwt (125.5 g). Hamilton's 7 jewel movement is scarce with a total production of 1000 made, all examples being in a single production run between serial numbers 2001 and 3000. From the well-known Hamilton collection of Robert Bennett of Olivehurst, California.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, good overall gilt tone with some mild spots and clouding in some areas, spot of lighter color adjacent banking pins area; dial with some hls, patched edge chip largely under bezel at 9, faint trace in surface glaze of an owner's name marked above the seconds-register which was presumably once overpainted on the dial and since removed leaving only a light ghost version in the glaze visible at certain lighting angles; excellent hands; case shows little wear, few dings to rear, excellent engraving detail, some gilt loss to interior movement ring; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
